turns out that vocal changes I made to the song ‘crybaby’ proved to yield better results with Uplaya’s Hit Song scrubbing Technology.
the vecctones recently was awarded 4 Platinum, 1 Gold and 2 Silver Auddy Awards with it’s song scrubbing “hit song science technology”. They have also given the vecctones an opportunity to be a guest blogger on their website. check out the blog entry.
Uplaya has acknowledged the misprint of their July 31 submission cutoff date and have agreed to let me resubmit up until Aug 31. They’ll be deleting the songs I already submitted so my Auddy Award Trophy Case might be empty until then. Some of the songs I submitted I was dog tired on the vocals but did the best I could to finish them up. I was working with 15 songs total, but now I’m in the middle of a process of elimination. This will give me the opportunity to take my time and make sure both the mixes and vocals are the way I want them to be, and only to focus on the 11 tunes that the vecctones debut album will consist of.

the vecctones got 4 Platinum Auddy Awards, 1 Gold and 2 Silver. Uplaya.com has this hit song science technology that scrubs songs to see if contains patterns that other hit songs have. The submission of the vecctones music to this website is also for their American Songwriter competition that will yield more exposure for the winners.

“Online services have helped address the ‘availability’ problem for music, but consumers and artists are still frustrated by a lack of ‘visibility’ to easily connect great artists with potential fans,” “Music Intelligence Solutions’ Music Universe™ and Hit Song Science™ can solve the visibility problem better than any other technology that I have seen.” Chuck D, co-founder of Public Enemy, legendary artist, author and Internet entrepreneur.
Do you dream of a world without boundaries — where you can place your work before a huge audience, with no limits and no interference?
Hit Song Science™ provides immediate feedback on your song´s potential for commercial success and instant legitimization in the market for high-scoring music.
Do you want help choosing the best channels and markets for your music and which of your songs have the best chance for success?
The Music Universe™ helps you understand the hit potential of your songs within different markets and niches, and includes targeted promotional features to help your music gain visibility with audiences who already like your sound.
Our rating system gives you immediate feedback on the quality of your music, its competitive edge in the music industry, and its reception among professionals and music lovers.
For example, if your song receives a Gold or Platinum Audionaut Award (Auddy™), then the underlying musical patterns are similar to songs that have been hits in the past.
The Music Universe™ includes many languages and all genres from around the world. Ultimately, The Music Universe™ will analyze and catalog all music ever created and digitized.

Hit Song Science™ compares the sonic characteristics of your tracks against all the songs in the Music Universe™.
In the Music Universe™, hit songs tend to “cluster” (in terms of similarity), and the likely commercial success of new music is judged by its proximity to these constellations.

Music Intelligence Solutions’ patented algorithms analyze the fundamental characteristics of all music, such as brightness and tempo, and measures how they change over time. Often, these characteristics are perceived unconsciously by the listener, and the correct mix of parameters is more important than any individual parameter by itself.
Artists use the Hit Song Science™ technology to compare their unreleased songs against hits of the past and present, allowing them to see how well their music fits into the current market as well as to identify potential hits.
The technology also spots new trends and highlights how new songs fit in with these new trends. So a song containing mathematical patterns that are becoming more prevalent in new trends is detected as having high hit potential.

HSS™ analyzes an album or song and provides multiple components of feedback: song ratings to assess hit potential, song ratings to assess “staying power” and “new trends potential”, affinity values vis-à-vis other artists, and information regarding album coherence.
ok, I tweaked the EQ on the guitar tracks for the (follow up) tunes so that they have more mids, matching the (retro) tunes which utilizes a 6 string guitar (the ‘follow up’ has a 7 string that pumped out a lot of low end). I also re-sang ‘crybaby’, ‘worry about’, ‘impressions’. Then I re-arranged the order of the tunes, putting ‘worry about’ and ‘impressions’ at the end. Now the order of the songs sort of tell a story and kind of follow one another logically somehow in my mind with 2 funkier tunes at the end. This will be effective for a live show too.
Uplaya’s submission cutoff is July 31st for their competition
——–
(retro) get my thing
(retro) nothin to lose
(retro) cause it feels good
(retro) like this
(retro) the blues
(retro) save yourself
(retro) worry about
(follow up) impressions
I re-sang (and re-posted) all the tunes except for ‘get my thing’ and ‘save yourself’ today. ‘the blues’ has been altered slightly as i’ve been trying to get it right since the original version. the others just needed to be sang w/ just that right bit of attitude and personality. i’m still working towards the jul31 cutoff date for the uplaya competition which at the very least may gain the vecctones more exposure plus their Auddy Award system intrigues me
thank you to Protools for offering up SansAmp PSA-1 as a free download! holy fuckin shit…this things is unbelievable in what it can do to fix up existing guitar tracks already recorded w/ distortion. I feel I am getting the guitar tone that I originally wanted but couldn’t seem to get. It also made the bass tracks nasty & gritty…nice! yummy!!!! I’ve become excited about these retro debut tunes all over again, even more so as things are getting closer to becoming finalized. now it’s just vocals, vocals, vocals…not that what is now posted is bad but I have a july 31st cutoff for the uplaya competition which might at the very least gain the vecctones more exposure.
So it turns out that I got a Silver Auddy award for the song “time to get my thing together”. From Uplaya:
“Auddy Award™ winning songs will be reviewed by an expert panel of judges. Judges will choose three winners including one Grand Prize Winner. All winners will receive special-edition Supernova promotional widgets and featured profiles on AmericanSongspace.com. The Grand Prize Winner will be interviewed by American Songwriter.com and receive special recognition through American Songwriter Online and American Songspace.com.”
Not bad. Check out this Numb3rs clip that explains the technology, it’s kind of cool.
